What's on my design wall?

I've been making good use of the design wall that we put up in my sewing room after redoing it last January - it is so helpful to be able to lay projects out on it!

Here's how it looks this week -

I love the Tiny Tuesday blocks, so haven't wanted to take them down.
Still thinking about the layout and border possibilities!

Since we're working with our dark neutrals this month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge,  this week I cut out some browns for a color gradient block.  Another one of those, "Can I come up with enough browns to make this work?"  Yes, I can!

This block will go with these -

Each small square is 2.5 inches and the block is 10.5 inches unfinished.

Also on the design wall this week are all the pieces and parts for Almost Amish - another project using mostly darker colors, all solid scraps.

In this photo you can really see the brown chain that runs through the design,
but not the maroon.

But here is a better one with the first row sewn together - this shows the true colors in Almost Amish!

I'm excited to get this one finished up!

What's on your Design Wall? (Or design floor, or design bed - whatever works!)

  2. having a design wall is just so great isn't it - and if you leave the blocks on it all the time it really decorates and adds color to the room!

  3. Your design wall is so tidy and inviting. I like the colorwash blocks so much, and it reminds me to group colors in a colorful quilt. I will need to do that in the chandelier block quilt.

  5. Not to disappoint, all your blocks are lovely, Diann. I don't blame you for not taking down the tiny Tuesday blocks. This will be a wonderful quilt.

  6. I love your gradient blocks, Diann. They are so cool looking grouped together for the photo. I have a feeling I will just adore this quilt. Almost Amish is adorable too. I should have joined that party. Too bad for me, right? I know, I can start it anytime I want. Now, where are all my solid fabrics? On my design wall, there's ... 365 Challenge, of course!! lol. ;^)

  11. I love those color gradient blocks! I’d love to try that, but am almost certain I wouldn’t have enough color variation in my scraps to pull it off. But your blocks sure are awesome. And I like your scrappy multi-colored squares (for a border audition?) up next to the TT blocks. That looks interesting - perhaps with the dark neutral blocks as cornerstones in the border?

  14. I'm so excited to see your pumpkin piece - it is so, so pretty, and I love the hand-stitched tendrils! That has to be so satisfying to do a project of your own creation. :)
I love all your design board beauties, and the Tiny Tuesday blocks are stunning together. I also like that gradient brown. I was surprised at how many browns I came up with while doing my fall quilt. What will you do with your Almost Amish quilt when it is finished?

  16. Let's be honest - you tidied up the design wall for the photo-shoot. My design wall is huge riot of color and chaos because it has the WIPs. Your DW looks too organized and too neat. In any case, I love everything on it, especially the colorwash blocks.
