Needing (as I often do) some time by the ocean, we chose San Diego, California, one of our favorite cities, as our destination.
I like the color... everywhere!
I liked the baby seal pups at the Children's Pool at La Jolla Cove!
Mike found some sea glass - a favorite of mine to search for.
The views are amazing!
We decided to stay over on Coronado Island, which is a new experience. I'm loving the amazing bridge that brings you here, the interesting old homes, the places we can walk to, and this view of the city at night!
And riding the ferry over to the city so that we could go to a Padres ballgame.
I like the interesting things you see in beach towns that you wouldn't ever see anywhere else, like this seashell design in the sidewalk!
And finally, I liked bringing along my hand-pieced project, "Sand, Sea, and Sky," for some photos by the sea!
We have one more day to get some ocean time in before we head home.
Meanwhile, thanks for visiting my Thursday post and don't forget to check out all the other "I Like Thursday" bloggers at Not Afraid of Color!
Love your seaglass and your pretty project
ReplyDeleteI like Thursdays especially now because that means that you have a new post up and I always enjoy reading it. It seems you're always off on one adventure or another, and you don't always leave home to do it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Field Trip---sounds so relaxing....hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteYay for adult field trips! Sounds like an awesome jaunt. The little purple flowers are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteisn't it great when we can just take off when we want to - retirement :)
ReplyDeleteYou have been on the 'go' quite a bit this year! Love traveling through your eyes while I stay home and slave away, hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your little piece next to the Pacific! Your photos really struck me with how different the Pacific coast is from the Atlantic where we are now. I miss those purple flowers among the succulents and the wild, rocky shoreline.
ReplyDeleteCoronado Island is beautiful. I haven't been there in many years. Love the coastal vibe to your post today. So refreshing. Beach time is the best. Hope you have enjoyed the rest of the field trip. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness-one of my favorite cities. Good choice on the Coronado island to stay there. Loved this post-so pretty and fun. I haven't been there in years so it was fun to visit. mary
ReplyDeleteSan Diego is a favorite destination. Fell in love with creme brulee at the Hotel Coronado. Took DH there for a birthday dinner once and ordered a bottle of wine without asking about the price. Made me feel so grown up! Thank goodness it wasn't overly expensive ...
ReplyDeleteI've never been to San Diego. We could move there actually. A field trip extrodinaire. How restorative. If you're still there, congrats. It's snowing again here. LeeAnna
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Diann! HAHA – I know what you mean about the term field trip. Sue looks at me with wide eyes when I ask her the same thing. HAHA! I reword it quickly to would you like to go for a ride? Then she’s in with big smiles! AND SEA GLASS!! I love, love, LOVE looking for and especially finding sea glass. The nice smooth pieces, the colors – all of it is SO inspiring don’t you find? Aha – I’ve never been to Coronado Island. The view back looking at the city is just spectacular. I love riding on ferries too, and your latest project was just begging for photos to be taken there. Nice job and fun times! {{Hugs}} and Happy Mother’s Day to you. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeletetrying again to leave a comment... we might move to SanDiego so it's good to see some pics. Field trip indeed!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are having great fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great looking trip! I love seeing your pictures, and so fun to get some beachy snaps with your beachy quilt. The seals are especially cute. I love the sidewalk shell- things like that, and other public art, or interesting manhole covers are always so fun to discover.
ReplyDeleteIt's delightful when "field trip" takes on a whole new, fun, meaning :-) Looks like you two are enjoying yourselves (did the Padres win??). Here in MN, we refer to sea glass as faerie tears. I'm not sure where that term came from, however. Your little quilt enjoying those ocean breezes is a fun thing to see. Enjoy the rest of your field trip!
ReplyDeleteSea glass - so pretty! Your quilt has some of those colors in it, too. I like the scallop on the sidewalk. That's neat. Looks like a fun field trip!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, what a gorgeous place to go for a field trip. (I too was not fond of school field trips...nerve wreaking at times). That is a beautiful photo of the two of you and I love your pretty quilt meeting the sea and sky.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful field trip to take. We went to Coronado years ago when we attended a library conference in San Diego. Had a drink at the Hotel.

What a great trip and thanks for sharing it with us! I love your quilted piece! I envy you finding sea glass, whenever I'm at the beach I'm looking for it. Have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are enjoying time by the ocean. And what better place to do a photo shoot with your mini!! I have to wait until July for my ocean time!! It's already been almost a year since I was last there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun field trip for you and your husband! It looks beautiful there! I love your mini! Those colors are perfect especially at the beach! Love the sea glass!
ReplyDeleteOh that all looks like fun! Your little quilt looks right at home there. :)
