I'm using a fat quarter bundle of Printology by Benartex that I won in a giveaway from Allison at Little Bunny Quilts last year.
My bundle had 8 fat quarters, so I set aside two that I thought would be more useful as blenders or background fabrics, and then chose the 5 that would make up my stars. That 6th fat quarter will probably end up in the binding, since it has all the colors in it! My background fabric is Kona Butter.
Wanting to be very careful about fabric placement and cutting, I decided to make myself a key using graph paper and colored pencils.
Then I reread (and reread, lol!) the cutting directions and made copious notes for myself!
Fortunately, we have a couple weeks to do all the cutting, which is good for me as that is something I'm slow at. I did get started on my background pieces today!
Linking up to mmmquilts to share my progress!
What pretty fabrics! I'm quilting along, too. Fabrics are chosen, but I haven't blogged about them. Documenting is the hardest part for me :)
ReplyDeletewhat size is this? it looks like you will be using tiny pieces?
ReplyDeleteCreating a key for yourself can be a really good idea. Smart thinking!!
ReplyDeleteOh, these fabrics are going to be pretty in that design!
ReplyDeleteI like the butter yellow to go with those. It will turn out beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove your fabrics ... and your notebook ... you are sew organized. I am still deciding on this one, I have plenty of fabrics. Need to pick a version and commit ... :) Pat
ReplyDeleteI love the fabrics you've chosen.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm going to have to do the graph paper also, because I'm having a lot of trouble deciphering the pattern. :( I always have to "see" how it goes together, and the pattern isn't in diagrams (for my poor reading skills!). Also, I'm not using fat quarters so I guess I'll need to put the yardage into fat quarter sizes to cut.
