Sunday was such a beautiful day here that we went for a long walk at a favorite natural area around some lakes. There are tons of geese hanging out there right now and we got some pictures I really like.
From far away -
A close up - they are all facing the same direction!
And flying above us -
They were making quite a noise as they swirled through the sky!
Sunday I also made a new recipe that we liked - it's called Slow Cooker Garlic Parmesan Chicken Stew (although I just made it in my big soup pot on top of the stove, rather than the crockpot).
You can find the recipe here, if you're interested. I love her website title, "The Recipe Rebel!" And, of course, her photo of the stew is MUCH yummier-looking than mine... lol!
This week, I liked finishing up my hand-pieced and quilted doll quilt, which I used for practice on hand-piecing before the QAL started.
I am happy with how this turned out! I can hand-piece squares pretty well. But this week's Flying Geese block for the QAL is challenging! Hopefully I will master it, though!
We discovered the Dr. Blake Mysteries on Netflix this week. I know it's been around awhile, but somehow we never latched on to the show until recently. Now that we have, we're really enjoying the series!
Those are my likes for this week - thanks for visiting! Be sure and stop by over at Not Afraid of Color for more I Like posts.
I have not watched Dr. Blake and I'm looking for a new series to try - will check it out. Don't you love seeing all the birds.
ReplyDeleteThose are some fat geese. And how appropriate you are working on flying geese this weekd! I am looking forward to finishing this week's blocks. I started it the other night and only completed two geese.
ReplyDeleteI love your doll quilt. Did you quilt by hand also? Wow!
OK I'm off to check out Recipe Rebel. That soup looks good and it's finally turning cold again here today.
The doll quilt is so sweet. I have never tried hand piecing, not sure I would enjoy it. I would be thinking, "this would go quicker on the machine"!! LOL
ReplyDeleteHi Diann! Oh your doll quilt turned out so nicely - and hand pieced! I saw the flying geese block - you can do it. What a fun QAL. And those geese - what are they doing hanging around?! Aren't they supposed to already be someplace warmer. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThe soup looks good to me...thanks for sharing your quilt and the recipe website.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the Dr. Blake series; I enjoyed that series too. Your doll quilt is cute, and I can hear all those geese squawking. I'm going to check out that recipe, since I was just thinking I'd like a new chicken stew/soup recipe.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lot of geese! Wonderful photos of them as well. Your stew sounds great for our cold weather. Hope you have a great Thursday & weekend as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm still watching recorded videos of Dr. Blake and enjoying it. Those beautiful birds! That soup looks good!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! mary
We enjoyed Dr. Blake. Was bummed when it ended. Definitely the season for stews and soups. Look at all those geese!
ReplyDeleteYour hand piecing is awesome. LOL I like your photos of the geese, I am not always a fan around here. Funny story in Oregon they don't see as many, my sister gets excited when "The Canadians" arrive.
ReplyDeletebeing a quilter AND an artist of sorts, I love Dr. Blake's series as well. Love it when he decides to open up his mother's studio. I think I'm on my 3rd time through watching it. LOVE the little quilt you made!
ReplyDeleteThe geese photos are extraordinary. I like how you gave us three different perspectives - I can only imagine how many there are!
