I Like Thursday #106 - Welcome, November!

Just like everyone else, I am surprised to find that it's November already!  Where did September and October go?  Do the weeks just go by faster this time of year, or what?!

I gave myself a goal of finishing my Rainbow Scrap Challenge Bowtie quilt this week, and I'm almost there!  I like finishing projects - especially larger quilts, on which I am typically pretty slow.

I finished the quilting this afternoon (Wednesday) and have been working away on the binding!  Planning a finished post for Saturday!

We enjoyed a day out in Boulder last Friday.  Lunch at Mod Pizza (in spite of their name, they also make really good salads which were our choice that day!) and then a hike up in the hills west of town.

Bald Mountain Scenic Area

It was a short hike with wonderful views!

To the east - the plains

And to the west -

It was the perfect after lunch walk.  And we topped it off with a visit to one of our favorite local wineries!

Another day this week, I was out for a walk by myself, and just had to crunch through a big pile of leaves.

I've always loved doing this, from childhood up into my 60s!  Fun!

And this week I really enjoyed this book!

Evidently it was Reese Witherspoon's Book Club choice for September (I didn't know she had a book club, but now I'll pay a little more attention!) and I found a fun video on YouTube that she did to introduce it.  Click HERE if you'd like to see her video!

Hope you're having a great week!  I'm joining in, as always, with LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color for I Like Thursday.

  1. You have such gorgeous places to hike. I hiked on the golf course the last two days -- well, to and from the cart, anyway. First real workout on my ankle since the break in March with no ill effects. And I had enough good shots to make me want to play more!

  2. Your walking places are incredible! That sounds like a perfect day to me. I'll look forward to your Saturday post on the quilt. And oh my gosh, I just told my husband yesterday that I loved the look of fallen leaves and how I used to look for crispy ones to "crunch" when I was a kid. The air was much drier in northeast Oklahoma than it is here in south Texas, so leaf crunching was more satisfying than it is now. ;)

  3. I will need to check out the book you mention I'm always on the look out for another book. I like kicking through the leafs too and have done that on walks around the property this week since we got home but disappointed we had so much rain yesterday the yard will be too wet to walk in for days to come!! we had 3.5 inches of rain

  4. You are kicking through the leaves. I am marveling at the cottonwood leaves that insist my porch is a great place to pile up....um cottonwood tree which is about 1/2 an acre away. But the leaves are huge, bigger than my hand. You always have such gorgeous pictures of scenery.

  6. great book title. You know Mary lives in Boulder, very near Chataugua. I felt October was way, way, waaaaaay long myself and am glad to move on to November.

  7. Hi Diann! Oh those photos look so pretty - crystal clear blue skies and the snow topped mountains. I love the little sneak peek of your quilt - and that bicycle print especially. I want to make a journal cover for my boss using a similar print. I just want it to be perfect, and that may not happen quite like that! Happy Thursday to you! ~smile~ Roseanne

  8. Compared to my quilty friends, I have one of the most boring walks around. What beautiful views you had, and then a trip to a winery (why don't I ever think of that??). I love to walk through crunchy leaves too!

  9. What beautiful views! There's just something soothing about crunching through the leaves, I think...
