My likes this week are a bit of everything! For example...
I like purple and orange!
In the garden
And in the sewing room!
I like this special fabric that my friend, Cathy, who blogs at Cathy's Crazy by Design, sent me after her recent trip to Africa! I spy some purple and orange there!
Thank you, Cathy! If you're interested in reading more about Cathy's amazing trip, click on the link to her blog above.
And also in the sewing room this week, I've been making progress on my Bowtie quilt, which is always a good feeling!
Here is the layout, with just one block, that very last one, turned wrong. Oops! But I can fix that easily. It is colorful, scrappy, random, and just exactly what I love to sew up these days. The quilt top is about halfway sewn together at this point.
I liked seeing our beautiful neighborhood Great-Horned owl sitting on our fence the other day.
Wikipedia says these owls have a wingspan of 3 to 5 feet, and I believe it after seeing him fly off a couple times.
And, finally, I liked this sign at our favorite local winery where we like to go and have a picnic now and then with a glass of wine, too.
Can you see right behind it where they've used empty bottles as part of the fence around their outdoor sitting area? I've always thought that was fun!
Happy Thursday, friends!
And orange is the RSC color for August. Your bowtie top is very cheerful.
ReplyDeleteI like Thursdays because I like to read your blog. Sometimes, you have a lot going on and other times, it's slow and easy going. :)
ReplyDeleteLove that owl photo! We have owls in the neighborhood, hear them a lot, they haven't been showing themselves though:(
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is really looking fab! I have to say I don't like orange at all--unless it is with purple. Then it works for some reason :D Your owl is amazing!!! Wowsa!
ReplyDeletelove the blue and orange colors. the bowtie quilt is coming along nicely and love that owl!
ReplyDeleteWow! That owl is gorgeous!! And I love your bright color combinations. I like purple and orange and all the rest, so your bowtie quilt is really my kind of palette. And your flower garden is so gorgeous!! I have one blooming Dahlia and that's all; I get so excited whenever it has a bloom, but you have tons of beautiful flowers. Thank you so much for sharing, they brightened my morning!
ReplyDeleteOoh. lots of good stuff. Oh, doesn't quilting progress feel so good? Love all that orange and purple. That owl is pretty cool, too.
ReplyDeleteI agree orange and purple are wonderful together. Love your bow tie quilt. Great fence, and what a lovely place to picnic.
ReplyDeletewe had an owl last week, and they are magnificent
ReplyDeleteThe owl looks quite statesman-like and yet a little bit sinister with his peircing eyes. We see an occasional owl, but I've never been able to catch a photo of any. You're making good progress on the bowties. I need to do some calculations and see if any of my RSC projects are getting enough blocks to finish.

Hi Diann! Oh how pretty those purple and orange look in the garden and the sewing room. Ooh, fabrics from Africa - how COOL is that?! You bowtie quilt is lovely - I love all of its scrappiness. And that owl - wowee! He should keep the rabbits and birds away, I'll bet. Happy Thursday, friend! ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteThose purple and orange flowers are so pretty together. I really enjoyed Cathy's blog. Thanks for the hook up. That owl is so big and beautiful-how cool is he for hangin out on your porch.
