Last Monday, Libby at Life on the Hill revealed the final step in putting together her Magical Mystery blocks, so later in the week I got busy sewing a few together!
There is an "A" block and a "B" block. Here are the A's ready to stitch. You can make 4 blocks from each pair of fat quarters, two A blocks and two B blocks.
Libby also gave us some possible block layouts to try. I loved her two color idea, see it HERE, and gave it a try with my first few blocks. I even made an extra purple and yellow block so I would have enough to see the design get started.
But since I have lots of color in my blocks (and will have more when I get the rest of the blocks made!), maybe something where each set of four 8 inch blocks makes a bigger block by themselves will work better.
The dark/light design will still be apparent, I think. I guess I'd better get to work on cutting and sewing some more blocks!
This is going to be a bright and happy quilt! Sharing at Quilting is More Fun than Housework for Oh Scrap today.
Just yesterday, I basted this tulip block that I made earlier in the week and got it ready for some hand quilting. I thought I would enjoy some slow stitching this afternoon!
This will turn into a springtime mini after quilting. It measures about 9 x 20. Also sharing at Kathy's Quilts for Slow Sunday Stitching.
such a pretty tulip block - spring comes for sure
ReplyDeleteMysteries are scary for me, I never know if I will like the result. Kudos on your blocks, so fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat layout ideas on the mystery blocks, and I love how your tulip is coming along. Hope you are enjoying some of your slow stitching on this Easter day. :)
ReplyDeleteI am with Chris - I am always hesitant to join in on mystery quilts. But I have been watching Libby’s Block closely. It will be fun to see how you lay out all your blocks!
ReplyDeleteI still need to sew my Mystery blocks. The components are done, but not the assembly. Penguins do great work on Mysteries!! :o))
ReplyDeletePretty tulip block, I'll be looking forward to see your hand quilting done. I want to try this someday. I'm curious about how the mistery will end.
ReplyDeleteSo do you have more blocks done now-I mean it is a whole day later, LOL How long is the mystery going for?
ReplyDeleteAlways lovely to see the reveal of the blocks in a mystery. Looks good.
ReplyDeleteI like you layout for the mystery blocks. Very fun. Hope you got in lots of slow stitching this week.
