I liked the temperature that showed up on our weather station yesterday! 64 degrees, in Colorado, in mid-December!
You are probably wondering why I'm including this in my festive things. It's because Christmas is happening at our house this weekend, and my kids have to drive home (about a 4 hour drive for each of them across the eastern plains of Colorado) so good weather is hoped and prayed for on both ends. Keep your fingers crossed it will stay this way. :) I keep telling everyone who is wishing for snow that it can snow on Dec 19 when my guys are back home again!
I liked finishing up this little wool stocking and hanging it on my Christmas tree last night!
A favorite thing about decorating the tree each year is looking through all the ornaments from all the years and enjoying the memories of where they came from or when they were made.
I used to do a lot of cross-stitch, and these were made for my kids when they weren't very old.
I like finding old Christmas cards, and cutting them up to use for bookmarks!
Yes, I read another Debbie Macomber holiday romance this week!
What's not to like about a sweet little book you can read in a day?! :)
I like this rope bowl made by a friend in my quilt group. Have you tried making one of these yet? I haven't, but I'm kind of interested to try.
I like trying a new recipe now and then! I've been curious about desserts in a mug recently, so I tried this one. It's called "The 'One' Chocolate Mug Cake."
I have to say that is just okay. It is definitely simple to make, fills the desire for something sweet without making too much or a big mess, but it's a bit dry. It really needed a scoop of vanilla ice cream to melt into it!
Here's a link to the recipe if you're curious about it. Have you tried any of these? I saw a "Cinnamon Roll in a Mug" recipe the other day that I might try next. I would love to know if you've had success with something similar!
Time for me to get busy on preparations for our family weekend, but first I'll enjoy finding out what everyone else liked this week over at Not Afraid of Color!
We love using the 3 2 1 cake angel food one. Mix dry angel food cake mix with 1 dry chocolate cake mix. Put 3 TBS mix with 2 TBS water and microwave 1 minute. We have cute little Pyrex bowls for this. I hope you get no snow until after the weekend so your kids get home safely.
ReplyDeleteWOW, that's AWESOME warm for CO in Dec. Hoping your kids make it to you and home again safely!
ReplyDeleteWish we had those temps in Pennsylvania! I love your ornaments, they are adorable and full of great memories! cheers!
ReplyDeleteHi Diann,
ReplyDelete64 in Colorado in December is a huge gift! I sure do hope the weather holds, at least snow wise, so your peeps can drive safely both ways. I tried the cake in a mug, and agree it was okay. I haven't heard of the cinnamon roll in a mug - that sounds interesting! The old ornaments and the memories they hold - aren't they just the best?! It's one of my favorite thing about decorating the tree. That wool stocking is really cool and a nice addition to your tree. I'm trying to decide what kind of ornament to get/make for Dominic - just one for each year until he is old enough to have his own tree. Enjoy the gathering with your family! ~smile~ Roseanne
Your stocking turned out very cute. The coiled bowl is very pretty. Old Christmas cards I like to use them as gift tags.
ReplyDeleteYour stocking is so sweet. I too like Debbie's books. I'm pretty sure I've read them all! I pray the weather is good for everyone traveling across those states this holiday season especially till everyone gets back home and Lee Anna arrives . I have not tried a rope bowl. I watched someone make one and it looked stressful to my shoulders and hands. They are so cute, though. Enjoy! mary
ReplyDeletehave you seen the new cake mixes in the store for one mug cake? $2.50 sitting next to a cake mix that makes a whole cake and the price for those is less - crazy!! I have tried a couple mug cakes and never get the time right. Glad you kids can travel in nice weather
ReplyDeleteThose mug cakes are dangerous! Too easy to make! Those rope bowls are fun, too.
ReplyDeleteI am heartened by anyone who moves holidays like our family does. :-) I hope your Christmas is enjoyable.
I don't put up a tree anymore and the only part of that I dislike is not seeing my favorite ornaments each year. They're all in a big box in the attic and I wish I could think of an alternative way to display the best ones. Maybe if I pour over Pinterest in the middle of July I could find an idea I could actually implement.
ReplyDeleteHave a good celebration with your family. Only 1 out of 4 of mine is close enough to come, so we have a pretty subdued Christmas Eve.
Oh and it's 15° and snowy here in western NY!
Pat
Enjoy your holiday celebrations with your family this weekend. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good weather both ways!
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, your string star hanging is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo glad the weather cooperated...know exactly that feeling of hoping for good driving weather. I always reuse Christmas cards and also made cross stitch and wool ornaments...so many similarities we all share though many miles and a country apart!
Enjoy it all!
