Almost Finished, and a Few Scraps

A big focus of my week was pin basting

and quilting

Stars on Autumn Lane.

But I just couldn't stop there!  Since the larger table topper quilt will be a birthday gift for a friend, I still wanted to make something for my own table out of this pretty fabric.  So I took some of the leftover scraps and stitched up a few blocks.  Pinwheels, four patches, scrappy patchwork, just playing.

I decided to try a new quilting design that I saw in Jacquie Gering's Walk, called a curved cross hatch, and look - !!!

Love it!  I really enjoy trying designs like this on a small scale.

Meanwhile, Stars on Autumn Lane is quilted, trimmed, and the machine-stitched step of the binding is done, so finishing the hand stitching on the binding will be happening here today.  Always my favorite part!

  6. Your quilt is beautiful - very autumnal. And that wavy cross hatch quilting is wonderful too. Not sure that I'd be brave enough to try it...

  13. I like the quilting pattern, too, but I LOVE your little improv table topper. Sweet and perfect!! I have lots of autumn runners but need to get in gear and get some Christmas and/or winter ones made!

  14. What a pretty table mat. I love that little angel. I have 4 of them myself, but not a Thanksgiving one.

  15. I love that quilting! I'll have to give that a try soon. I've been thinking of taking one of her classes or buying the book, since I do like using the walking foot. (I feel like I've had a lot more success with it than with FMQ...)

  19. Love that curved crosshatching. I've had my eye on that book! And what a nice fall table topper. Maybe I should make some - it might make me keep my dining room table cleared off.
