Look at those orange leaves - aren't they the perfect fabric for October? That was a fun find!
I also decided my layout for this quilt would be (sort of) random, alternating the darker blocks with the lighter blocks, but in no particular color order.
With my last little bits of Kona White, I started working on the sashing, which will have the quilt look something like this - pinned up on my design wall.
You have to use your imagination a bit, but I know you get the idea! I was inspired to finish the quilt this way by someone else who was posting about her Rainbow Scrap Challenge Scrap Jar Star finish earlier this year, so if you recognize this, be sure to leave me a comment and take credit! I loved the nine patch blocks that are created this way. Now I just have to stock up on some more Kona White and start cutting 2 inch strips! The middle of each nine patch will be a 2 inch square left over from a fabric used in the quilt.
Linking up tomorrow with Angela at So Scrappy for ScrapHappy Saturday! See you there!
I really love this quilt and I think the two scrappy stars tie all the others together. Inspiration here to get those piling scraps sewn.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome! Now you have me rethinking my planned blocks for next year :)
ReplyDeleteI love all these scrap jar stars and the sashing is going to make it stunning!
ReplyDeleteI like this arrangement so much better than the other one you showed. (I think you had it by color, maybe?) Anyway, I think this quilt looks wonderful!
ReplyDeletewhat a beauty this quilt is going to be
ReplyDeleteLove these blocks! This is going to be such a fun and colorful quilt.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt is going to be FABULOUS! Might have to make one of my own next year for the RSC! :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so great! What a fun and happy quilt. The sashing and cornerstones are perfect, too.
ReplyDeleteAnother stellar (pun intended) quilt! I LOVE this pattern, but know the piecing accuracy you have is not my strong suit. Great job, Diann! I cannot wait to see it finished!
ReplyDeleteLove this month's scrappy blocks and oh how nice everything looks together! :) I saw that you asked about hand quilting over on my blog. I answered there in case anyone else was wondering but came over....I'm just using a 1 inch wooden ruler and then a 1/4 inch clear one to mark my lines with a simple #2 pencil. Eyeballing echo quilting the motifs :)

ReplyDeleteI just love what you did for this month! Those two blocks really sparkle! The entire quilt is just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThe latest blocks are so bright and happy! Good luck with your finish - I think it's going to look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLove your scrappy blocks! The quilt is going to look fabulous! Christine x
ReplyDeleteLove the two newest blocks. You did an excellent job with the layout as I like it best with sashing too. The cornerblock is the magic ingredient in this layout. Love the little apple in the grey SJS. I so want to make one too. Next year! Great job Diann! ;^)
ReplyDeleteThose are some of the best stars you've made, so free and colorful. Love the sashing and blocks. The 9-patch corners fit in better with the theme somehow. Great job so far.
ReplyDeleteIf we had to vote for our favorite RSC project, I believe that I would have to vote for this quilt. I absolutely LOVE how it is coming together!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. It is so fun to see them all starting to come together.
ReplyDeleteoh, I liked it butted together too... so gorgeous with all the prints and colors. The pattern is strong and it's all so balanced. Nice!!!
ReplyDeleteOoh, lovely!
ReplyDeleteVery lovely quilt. I keep admiring these scrap jar blocks and I think next year is the year to finally make them.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the end of an RSC year fun when you get to see what all your blocks look like in a quilt? I definitely like the layout with sashing and the little nine patches they form.
ReplyDeleteOh, Diann! I am absolutely in love with this! The random mix of colors is perfect! Such a beautiful quilt!
ReplyDeleteAnd you've now bumped Scrap Jar Stars quite a bit higher on my 'someday' list. Possibly next year's RSC for me?
