Although this still restricts movement of my wrist (especially anything that involves twisting my arm), it does give me lots more use of my fingers! So, little by little, I am figuring out what I can do and how I can do it!
After I realized I could sew a little bit with precut pieces, I went hunting around in my leftover bits of binding and found some green that could easily be turned into a 16 patch block.
Then I got really brave and decided to try cutting! Lol! I don't even want to begin to explain how I did this, but I did make it work, and made one more 16 patch block. However, I don't know if it was a good idea as it was a bit scary and included fingers awfully close to the cutting blade. (No more trips to the ER, thank you very much!)
This is my fabric find of the week - so perfect for the forest green idea.
My 2 1/2 inch square bin held a few more greens, so I also stitched up some four patches.
So, progress is made, in little bits and pieces, and I feel like I am accomplishing something! And I'll be linking up to Scrap Happy Saturday with Angela tomorrow!
A little sewing is better than none. Keep on healing my friend!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your green blocks.... especially with a broken wrist! I must have missed that post! Hope you are soon on the mend! Christine x
ReplyDeleteGood for you! I love that you're unstoppable! Carry on and heal fast!
ReplyDeleteSuper blocks, especially given that you're working with a brace. Heal quickly!
ReplyDeleteI sucked in my breath at the "I don't even want to begin to explain how I did this," as I can well imagine! Glad you can DO something though; I can barely imagine how frustrating the enforced absence from quilting could be. And hey! I have that exact tufts of grass green fabric! It's an oldie but a goodie right? I need to get cracking on my 2 RSC projects as the month is almost half gone!
ReplyDeleteI love the tufts of grass too. And I admire your pluck. If I had my hand in a brace I would make my cats wait on me hand and foot.
ReplyDeleteAmazing the way you have managed, especially the cutting. But please go easy on that. As you say, no more ER visits.
ReplyDeleteEvery little bit counts! Glad you are healing. I love your determination...but take it easy, girl!
ReplyDeletelooks great! and I recognize some of your fabrics- I have them in my stash, too, and it's time we use them up, right? glad your hand is getting better, too!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are able to do a few things, keeps the mind sane! I have that exact forest green fabric too!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job since you were incapacitated. Perhaps its time to teach your hubby to cut fabrics? Or the cat maybe? Hmmm. That would be pushing it a bit I think. I know mine loves to "help" me sew, but perhaps cutting is a bit more than she will do. LOL
ReplyDeleteha! The very moment you go from cast to brace you start quilting! Leeanna
ReplyDeleteGood to hear you're making progress - fabric therapy is always a good thing!
ReplyDeleteYour injury is a good excuse for us to have lots of precut pieces on hand, just in case! Kudos for accomplishing so much in spite of the challenge. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad that you've gotten some flexibility back so you can get back to stitching some.
ReplyDeleteI have that same grassy green! So sorry to hear about your wrist!
