You just never know...

In my last post, I wrote that I was planning to make a table runner out of some scrappy blocks I had leftover from a quilt I am working on.  But then... I started measuring and trying to square up the blocks and, boy, were they wonky!  I ended up making a pillow cover out of a few of the blocks and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

I quilted it with straight lines running diagonally and backed it with some Kona Crimson from my stash.

Look at the tiny pinwheel that was formed when I joined the four blocks together:

I am finally getting the blocks for the quilt sewn together into rows.  I think I am going to love this quilt!

  1. The pillow turned out beautifully! Sometimes there just aren't enough scraps to make what you had envisioned, and I really like that you were able to make something work for you anyway.

  7. Great idea, and a lovely, happy finish! I hate when you have waste like this, but you turned the waste into a very useful project, and you did it pronto, as opposed to having the scraps sit around for months, years...voice of experience! The quilt is going to be lovely with those beautiful fabrics.

  8. What a great way to use some blocks that wouldn't make it into a quilt. I love the pillow.

  10. Eep -- I love the Into the Woods line. By pairing it with all that white, you really let the fabric take the spotlight. Can't wait to see the finished quilt next to the coordinating pillow. : )
