It's a cool rainy day here - the first in a very long time!
This kind of weather always makes me want soup or chili in the crockpot. It smells good cooking all day, and tastes so good for dinner. Plus there are always leftovers - win, win!
It's good reading weather, too. I just finished this book, and it was fascinating! I've read other books by Chanel Cleeton, and most have been historical fiction set in Cuba or Florida with Cuban immigrants as the main characters. This one is very different - it is set in the 1960s in the early days of the space program, and focuses on the astronauts' wives and their experiences.
Earlier in the week when we went to the library, we ran into our favorite downtown flock of turkeys. Right on somebody's door step! I'm thinking maybe these people leave food out for them.
Hope you're having a great week!

It is so nice to hear that you got some much needed rain. As the weather cools down , it is nice to prepare chilis and soups. It is such a delight to see the turkeys. You were able to get some good photos. Enjoy your day, Diann. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to get some soaking rains finally, we've finally gotten some significant moisture too after the long hot, dry summer. Happy stitching and reading this week.
ReplyDeleteFall weather has me always thinking of anything pumpkin to eat and casseroles in the oven.
ReplyDeleteI love your seasonal views of your neighborhood - always looks so cozy. Cool and rainy sounds great, and that soup looks yummy. Potato soup will be on our menu this weekend, as we are looking forward to cooler weather starting tonight and hopefully a bit of rain. Of course we are planning to run errands tomorrow when the wind is supposed to gust to 45mph!
ReplyDeleteI’ve started making soup again too. Going for a hike in the woods today. The colours here are glorious!
ReplyDeleteYour cozy soup & chili were exactly what I told LeeAnna! Lol! Have you read The Astronauts' Wives Club book? It's a very interesting read too. The colder weather is working its way here and we'll definitely have lower temps tomorrow! Have a snuggly weekend!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh those turkeys! This city slicker would be totally freaked out by them!
ReplyDeleteOh the soup sounds delish. It is getting that time of year when I will be enjoying such comfort food. The book sounds interesting, glad to hear you enjoyed it. We get daily visits from our resident turkeys. They've now started rooting around in the flower beds and making a mess. We don't mind, hubby just cleans it up :)
ReplyDeleteWe got your rain today!! Love chili smells and books too!
