It's always fun to find out the new color of the month for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! When Angela suggested we focus on the pastel shades, my first thought was "what can I dig up that fits that?" So I started with the light blues.
In January, I made two Jacob's Ladder blocks - one in dark blue and one brighter.
Through trial and error in the first five months of the year, I've learned that these blocks need to have fabrics that contrast well with the ecru background, but not with each other. So the big question was - would it work with very light blues?
I think this will work!
So now there are three blue blocks -
And here's the whole gang, in very random layout!
And some quilting was completed on light blue, too -
A good start for June!

Nice that you had some fabric in the stash that would work!
ReplyDeleteThat is a pretty blue, and it shows up quite well! Love the light blue print you quilted.
ReplyDeleteI thought of you yesterday as I worked on - guess what - placemats!
Your rainbow quilt is coming along well!!
ReplyDeleteThe light blocks are going to work well with the brighter ones. Good choices!
ReplyDeleteYou found a great pastel combo for your blue block this month.
ReplyDeleteThat IS a very good start for June! I see what Angela meant about the lighter blocks add a little sparkle to the collection!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, Diann!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great start for the month & the Jacob's Ladder blocks are looking fab!
ReplyDeleteI always enjoying open your post to see the header. Those penguins crack me up. There does seem to be just enough contrast between the ecru and light blue to work with the rest of the Jacob's ladder blocks.
ReplyDeleteGood choice of fabric: they play well together. Love the group photo. I'm a sucker for Jacob's Ladder block. Enjoy! ;^)
ReplyDeleteGreat job jumping in with pastels, Diann.
ReplyDeleteWell done, Diann! Those blocks all together look great!
ReplyDeleteLoving these Jacob Ladder blocks. A group photo is always inspiring! Will you make "pastel" blocks in other colours too?
ReplyDeleteI'd say the Jacob Ladder blue pastel works just fine. Looking good.
ReplyDeleteGood call about contrast, I need to keep that in mind. Great start to a lovely quilt.
