This week I got out my bin of the smallest pieces of red and started sorting them to see what would work for this month's scrappy placemat. The next step is to sew pairs and trios and then start puzzling them together into a 12 x 16 slab.
A friend gave me quite a big pile of her unwanted leftover reds last fall, and they were good for making another Jacob's Ladder block. It takes some bigger pieces than what I keep in the above bin.
I had made one last December in brighter reds, so this time I used some darker pieces.
It's always fun to add more to the block collection! The lone brown block at the top was the first block I made, sometime last fall. It needs a friend, but that can wait until we sew the dark neutrals this year.

ReplyDeleteYou are going to have a rainbow of colour at your table with all those scrappy placemats. Your Jacob’s Ladder block collection is growing. Looking good! Gail at the Cozy Quilter
ReplyDeleteI love it when you make "slabs"! Those Jacob's Ladder blocks are so pretty and form such a neat design.
ReplyDeleteI love the Jacob’s Ladder block but have never made one, let alone a whole quilt. Seeing yours makes me think I should make them for the RSC 2027. I’m putting it on my idea board right now!
ReplyDeleteLove that pile of reds that are going to be "puzzled" into a placemat. That's a great way to describe it. And the Jacob's Ladder blocks are still calling to me......
ReplyDeleteThe Jacob's Ladder blocks look really good. Enjoy sewing your red scraps this month.
ReplyDeleteThose Jacob ladder blocks each month become more interesting with "friends!" The value of that brown block makes it fit perfectly with the dark red block. Well done!
ReplyDeleteJacob's ladder will be spectacular when done.
ReplyDeleteRed and white is always a great combination. This will be pretty when it's done.
ReplyDeleteOh the red is looking good!!
ReplyDeleteNice progress on your RSC JLs!
ReplyDeleteYour Jacob's Ladder blocks will make a great quilt! :)
