Snow?

No!  In fact it was nice enough one day this week for us to get out and play golf.  That's a little strange for January, but we're taking advantage of it while we can.

But there have been some snowflakes stitched this week, and little Mr. Frosty is finished.  I like his bright red cardinal companions, too!

I have a hard time getting the white floss to show up, even on this oatmeal colored cloth, so I outlined Frosty in a pale blue, and also stitched the snowflakes in that blue.

Frosty isn't fully finished just yet, but he's still enjoying hanging out with his snowman friends.

Some stitching was done on the winter embroidery piece that I've shared the last couple weeks, but before I get back to that I need to do some hand quilting on this finished quilt.  I made this one back in about 2020 or so, when I was doing a lot of hand-piecing, so the whole thing is hand stitched, and it has been hanging on the wall in our bedroom since then.  We took it down to do some work in there the other day, and I realized that I missed quilting the right corner half of the farthest right star.  So, there's a little make-up quilting work to do!

  1. Funny to see you out golfing in January! You would lose your golf balls in the snow here…
Cute winter display inside even though it doesn’t look like winter
Outside. Good catch on the missing quilting. Enjoy your day Gail at the cozy quilter

  2. No snow here, but it's been brutally cold with nasty winds. Glad you got out and about for a bit. The snowman is really cute. Enjoy your slow stitching today.

  3. I've heard about golfers who push to get a round in every month of the year! But a lot easier without snow. Your bluework project is lovely.

  5. Your Frosty looks great - I love that color blue. How funny you noticed the little bit of quilting on that pretty piece. That's a great picture of you in your golf duds! I always played better in cold weather, and I preferred a pull cart to riding in a cart.

  6. Golfing in January has to be unusual in Colorado! We have had mild weather here; but, like you, we are taking advantage of the nice days! Your finished Frosty is a cutie!

  8. At least you can still get to your missed quilting. I missed the face on a scarecrow embroidery after framing it and since it is stuck down I can't get to it, LOL. At least it is a small area and no one notices except me! Glad you could enjoy some golf time in January.

  10. So fun to see Frosty finished. I’ve had to you the blue technique to get white to show. It works well I think. We’ve had icy wind and a snow burst on Thursday. But it’s mostly gone now. Will you finish Frosty with fabric on the back or more Aida? Just curiosity! Show us the finish when you are done.

  11. Well...look at you, looking quite the golfer, Diann. Fabulous you can enjoy some golfing in January. Frosty has a lot of gorgeous wintry friends to hang out with. Everything looks so pretty resting on the little table. It is funny the things we miss when we think we have finished a project.

  12. What a wonderful wintery display you made - so pretty!
Isn't it so funny when we miss a chunk of quilting and just don't see it?!?! Hope it's a easy add on!
The golfers here miss out on at least half of the year of playing.
