Good morning and Happy Thursday!
Lol!
LeeAnna's question of the week is about calendars. And, yes, I still keep a paper calendar - it's nothing exciting, actually just a free one from our credit union. I keep it on a counter top area in our kitchen. Sometimes I remember to write things on it, and sometimes I don't, which can be a problem! The January calendar isn't very full, which is the joy of being retired!
Can you guess where we might be going this year? 😊
We have been fans of J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings trilogy since college when we first read it, and passed the love of it on to our kids, too. When the movies first came out, starting in 2001, we went to them, and have watched them on DVD since then as well. Younger son discovered that a local movie theater was having a special event over two weekends for the 25th anniversary of the movies, and showing them on the big screen again. So we went to see "Fellowship of the Ring" last Friday. That was fun!
But the really fun thing we discovered is that he still had his original ticket from 2001 on a bulletin board that we have never taken down in his childhood bedroom (now hubby's office)!
Probably should clean off that bulletin board now
and see what other ancient artifacts we might discover!
This is my sister's dog, Rico. He is such a good, smart boy! He came along and entertained us when we visited our mom yesterday. I always enjoy some dog petting time because we don't have one anymore.

I love the Lord of the Rings too. I too keep a paper calendar on top of the microwave for appointments - I keep them on the phone too but with on the paper we both can see it so we know what is going on with appointments for both of us.
ReplyDeleteI still use the planning calendar that I've had since the 1990's. I am not very good about using the calendar on my phone....writing it down makes a stronger impression than keying it in. I'm a halfway LOTR fan....considering all that I read (especially in the early 70's) I'm not sure why I didn't catch the fever. Our friends who are therapy dog handlers visit many care facilities and the dogs are always appreciated.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Charleston -- on a cruise or just to visit?
ReplyDeleteYour movie trip sounds fun! Upcoming trip - Oregon I expected to see, but Charleston too - yay! I'm glad dogs are allowed at your Mom's residence, does she enjoy them? Rico is a cutie.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that the ticket was still there 25 years later! So cool! Glad you got some dog petting time in! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to see the movies on the BiG screen again after all this time! Fun too to discover the original ticket stub!
ReplyDeleteWe also love Lord of the Rings. How has it been 25 years!!!
ReplyDeleteBig Lord of the Rings fans here and also my girls. I'm almost sentimental about it these days. And where has that time gone!!
ReplyDeleteOur family is also big Lord of the Rings fans. My daughter always has one of the movies for background noise...and she sometimes plays a Harry Potter move. The old movie ticket stub was quite the find. I can't remember when a ticket was only $4.50. Charleston is a great place to visit. I hope you go and enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteThose were a great set of movies! What fun to see it on the big screen.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I still use a paper calendar to jot down appointments and important things, much to my grown daughter's chagrine. "Mom, you need to get with the program and use your Google Calendar!" I am trying, but I still find satisfaction in seeing the appointment in black and white right up there on the kitchen wall, lol!
ReplyDeleteBig LOTR fans here, too. My husband read The Hobbit and LOTRs books aloud to me the first year of our marriage. Fun you got to see it on the big screen.
ReplyDeleteI also still use a paper calendar...when I remember to write in it. Ha, ha!
ReplyDeleteCharleston! I am soooo excited! :)
I pretty much lived and died by my work calendar in Outlook, it had everything on it. When I retired, I did switch to a paper calendar, I'm not always on my computer like I was. How fun that you found that ticket stub. We have the complete Lord of the Rings on DVD, but haven't watched them in a while.
ReplyDeleteI use a calendar too usually a free one from the bank. LOL. I usually keep a notebook with notes jotted down to keep me organized as well. Can you believe it? I have never seen Lord of the Rings.
