Snow day!
They were predicting 2 inches, but we definitely are getting more than that.
This was taken at about 8 am Wednesday morning, but it's supposed to keep snowing
through about noon.
That makes things feel a bit more Christmas-y around here!

Before the snow happened, younger son and I went for a walk at our favorite trail area and found the bald eagles. I always love seeing them!
Here at home we've had some visits from the goldfinches in their winter colors. Another favorite bird!
LeeAnna's question of the week is about games to play when the family gathers, or even just for two people. Here are our favorites:
Top: Cribbage
Bottom: Phase 10 and Skipbo
All can be played by two or more people. When all four of us are together, we always have a Cribbage tournament - parents against kids! π
We got a new board game a couple years ago, and all enjoyed it, too.

We have Ticket to Ride too! My husband and I always have a puzzle on the go. Our current one is 2000 pieces…it’s taking a while to put together. The ground is white here. We put out the Christmas lights yesterday afternoon. I’m not sure why we always wait for a freeze your fingers off day to do this…. Anyway, they look nice!
ReplyDeleteLots of birds here too. Enjoy your day! Gail at the cozy quilter
We used to have a jigsaw puzzle on a table when family gathered for a holiday for several days. We like playing Hand and Foot with brother-in-law and his wife.
ReplyDeleteThose eagles are SO COOL! Great photos! We have snow on the ground but way less than you did. How much did you end up getting? Sending hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteYour snowfall is so pretty, Diann. You got great photos of the bald eagles. There are a some at the lake where I walk but I haven't gotten any good pics of them yet. Cribbage is one of my favorite games. My uncle taught me how to play. He was so good and would travel to various tournaments throughout Florida, after he retired of course.
ReplyDeleteI've been on the lookout for our eagles too. We don't always get them but when we do, it's exciting. I guess our pond/lake isn't big enough to support their appetites! Lol! Our weather folks predicted 2-4" last Saturday and we got 7". Then Monday they predicted 0.8" and we got 4". Their track record isn't very good so far this snow season! Hahaha
ReplyDeleteWe've played cribbage and pinochle, That was a lot of snow that fell in one swoop! I do love the quietness and the white covering of that first snow. It is so bright and yes. . .it does put you in the mood of Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI'm terrible at cribbage, but we play it now and then. We also have Ticket to Ride and have enjoyed that. Now that it's just the two of us, we don't play games as often.
ReplyDeleteYes, a Ticket to Ride is a good one. I haven't played it for a while. Your photos of the eagles are amazing!
ReplyDeletethe snow is so pretty and so nice to see the bald eagles we spot the near here all the time
ReplyDeleteExcellent eagles!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos of the bald eagles. We have a little snow on the ground. It's going down to 6 degrees F tonight. Brrr. So far the only Christmas stuff I've gotten out are two rable top trees and wall hangings.
ReplyDeletePat
Bald eagles! There are some at the state park but I haven't seen them on my walks. A couple of years ago one came to visit a tree next door--awe-inspiring, especially when it flew away down the street (that wingspan!).
ReplyDeleteIt's always a treat to see bald eagles. Hope you are enjoying your snow. We finally left Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are beautiful and captivating. Warm greetings from a retired lady living in Montreal, Canada π ❤️ π¨π¦
ReplyDeleteOH my how exciting to see and get great photos of those beautiful very large birds! I'm envious! And so lovely to see your starry blocks together in such pretty fabrics. I'm not familiar with that game Ticket to Ride. All interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy Guy is jealous, finding Eagles here usually involves a long walk into the woods. A lot of snow is also a good reason to spend lots of time in the sewing room.
