Progress on Patchwork Hearts

Patchwork Hearts is my 2024 Rainbow Scrap Challenge block collection that I am slowly working on finishing.  This week I had some time to get it out and move it forward a little bit more.  I'm quilting one row at a time, and then will connect them with sashing and batting after the quilting is finished.

How about an orange cat, since June is orange month?!

It didn't take too long to sew the blocks into rows this week.

Now row 1 is completely quilted and the next step is to get row 2 ready for that task.

That will be my weekend job!

And a close-up peek at the orange heart, just because!

  1. Much easier to quilt having only one row under the needle at a time! I love that you are using an alternate block with the hearts.

  4. Those hearts are awesome, and then adding the chain blocks just made a great secondary design. That is going to be a wonderful quilt.

  7. I've never tried quilting a row a time, then assembling. I'm curious to see how it ends up & if you like it. It was also fun to see it all laid out again, as I'd forgotten you had that multi-colored heart in the middle. So cute!

  14. I’m loving your orange cat! If memory serves me, my daughter and I made this quilt pattern way back before she began working. Yours is so pretty and cheerful! I’m looking forward to seeing how you join them. It seems new and a bit scary to me. I love how you incorporate different ways for the RSC Challenge. Thank you for sharing!

  16. I've never tried QAYG. Your row-by-row approach makes good sense. Love the design.
