Slow Stitching this Week

I'm back into embroidery this week and enjoying every stitch!  The stitching on Bee Kind is complete - now I just have to decide how I want to finish this one.  Most likely it will be combined with some patchwork to make a little wall-hanging and sent off to my college friend who is an entomologist!

Then I traced and started stitching this design from Gail Pan's Patchwork Loves Embroidery, Too.  I would love to turn it into a pillow for a friend who has a birthday in a couple weeks, if I can finish it in time!

I'm using DMC 4140, "Driftwood," to stitch this and I love it!
It's a reddish/brown variegated floss, and really pretty.

When do you do most of your hand stitching?  My time is in the evening when the dishes are done, and we settle in for an evening in front of the TV.  We've gotten into the habit of streaming various TV shows or watching a movie.  This week we watched a movie on Netflix called "The Trial of the Chicago Seven."  It was pretty interesting!

I always enjoy movies that are based on true events because then I feel like I'm learning something at the same time.  While watching (and stitching!) I also looked up the real people who were involved in these events that took place back in 1968.

Have a great Sunday!

Such lovely stitching!! I used to do it first thing with coffee on our deck in the mornings--but now that it's gotten colder I also do it during our tv watching in the evenings...I am almost finished with Purple butterfly...so relaxing...hugs, julierose

I tend to do my hand stitching when I'm sitting with hubby in the afternoon, usually when he is watching sports. The light here is pretty bad at night. I love your Bee Kind embroidery!!! It looks wonderful!

I think most of my stitching gets done in the evenings too - I'm just not sitting still much in the daytime. I tend to watch a bit of Netflix or Prime while I'm stitching and read books in the daytime in between other things.

The embroidered bee hive will be perfect for your friend, I hope you finish the other embroidery in time the birthday! I often applique in the afternoon when the grandsons are watching Paw Patrol. Happy stitching!

I love the Bee Kind stitching, and it is perfect for an entomologist!
I will always love Gail Pan's designs, and that is a cute one for fall. Good luck getting it done!

Your stitching is lovely. My in-front-of-TV handwork usually consists of UN-sewing. I also use that time to finger press HSTs and trim dog ears.

Nice finish on your Bee Kind piece! I love to stitch things up, but then struggle with what to do with them. I have a dozen pieces that are embroidery finishes, but looking like they just came off the hoop (because pretty much they did)! I *adore* the Gail Pan stitchery you've got up next! Her designs are so sweet!!!! I generally stitch while we watch a movie or football. Sometimes if we'll be on a long car ride, I'll stitch then (depending on the conditions of the road). Enjoy your time today! :)

Gorgeous stitching Diann! I’m sure your friend will love it!
I mostly stitch in the evening, although during the summer I did find a little time for stitching in the sun during the sunny afternoons.
Happy Sunday Diann!
Hugs,
Barbara xx

I do hand stitching in the evenings too while we are watching a show or movie. We are much like you, looking up the history or cast members while we watch. I had seen that one and wondered if it was good. Last night we watched the updated Rebecca on Netflix. It was better than I had thought it would be.

Bee Kind turned out beautifully. I do hand stitching at night when my husband and I are watching TV. Sometimes I also stitch in the car when I am waiting for my grandchildren to get out of school.

Cute embroideries! I do my hand stitching in the car on road trips. Needless to say there's not much hand stitching or road tripping going on in 2020!

Your Bee Kind wall hanging would be the perfect gift for your insect loving friend. Love this stitchery. I seem to stitch any time of the day, though I suppose most is enjoyed in the evenings whilst watching TV. Watching TV and stitching seem to go hand in hand, don't they.

Wonderful job on the stitching... perfect gift for an entomologist!
I like to stitch in the evenings when I have a bit of energy left, but I don't have cable so I listen to music or podcasts.

I mostly stitch at night also! I’ve had to rearrange my chair and light to do so. Gotta have the light over my left shoulder, I used to stitch every Thursday with a group that met in a small room at the Catholic school. In March, that all ended! I miss them soooo much! It was a great time of stitching and sharing! We got a little “animated” at times and had to close the door. LOL,
Your Bee Kind is so pretty!

I love the little Bee Hive piece. Could you tell me where to find it. I looked at the link but had no luck.

Last night I streamed "Hidden Figures" on Disney Plus. I am always interested in learning about women who broke barriers in earlier times. This movie is about Black women who worked in the early space program. It was very good.
