I Like Thursday #178 - Escaping

I'm all about escaping these days - how about you?

The news is a lot easier to tolerate with a glass of wine, right?

Did you know last Saturday was National Potato Chip Day?  We celebrated at our house!   Chips are a treat we don't allow ourselves very often...

You might notice that I wasn't even able to get a picture
before we broke open those potato chips!

I have a good friend who I walk with every week on Wednesday, but in these days of self isolation, we decided we'd better not meet up this week.  Still needing to escape the house, I took my shadow self along!

At least it was a beautiful sunny day!

My shadow self even helped take a picture of the crocuses - more than the last time I shared them, but still the only thing blooming!

Need some escape reading?  I'm back to Robyn Carr's books.  I finished all of the Virgin River books and now I'm reading through her Thunder Point series.  They take place in a small town on the Oregon Coast, one of my favorite places to be!

Are you escaping with a little sewing?  I am!  These are my first two blocks for the Book Club Hand- Pieced QAL.  I'm really happy with how they've turned out!

The first link-up to share our blocks with other participants starts today, so I've put more info about these blocks in my previous post!

Joining in with LeeAnna and the "I Like Thursday" bunch at Not Afraid of Color.

Good things to like. I know for some people social distancing is hard. For me, not so much. Good to get out and walk. Like your blocks they are very pretty.

No walkies today as it is pouring rain and windy--but I have plenty to keep me busy--secret quilt project and RSC finishing off what I can of my teal scraps...Maybe this rain will bring my daffodils up;)))
hugs stay safe Julierose

Lovely red blocks, it's a perfect time to sign for challenges and other QAL ;)

Couldn't you do your walk together as long as you both are free of fever and stay six feet apart? Seems like that would help both of you keep your spirits up. Stay well!

I was thinking the same as Carole - as long as you do not walk too closely together it should be save. I didn't know it had been potato chip day - I missed it!! I don't buy them often either. I think I have read all the books in the series you mention which I believe I got you started on LOL - I'm waiting for the newest ones to come out

What a great post, Diann - a nice little escape from the concerns of the day. Your shadow self looks like a good companion. I am upgrading my blog, and it's going better than yesterday. I'm going to take a break, though, and go sew after I make lunch. Wine is always a good idea, right??

Hi Diann! Oh, I don't think I've tried Robyn Carr's books. I've been working my way through Marie Force's Gansett Island - there are around 20 books in the series. Your crocuses look so pretty! I've only ever had purple ones - those yellow look so happy! I'm sorry you can't walk with your friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

I finished the monthly wedding toppers and now I am on to my Moda Blockhead and then on to quilting some tops! I am sure a squirrel or two will distract me, or 1 of 4 dogs currently residing here will demand attention. Love the red/white blocks!!

Yay for a sunny day. I like your way of watching the news. Hang in there!

I just caught up on your posts and I love your red/white blocks! I looked up Marie Bostwick's first Cobbled Court series on Amazon, read a sample, and now have the Kindle version of A Single Thread waiting for me. I'll probably start on it with a glass of wine. And maybe some potato chips. ;)

Diann, I'm loving your red and white blocks just as much as I knew I would. I keep thinking of a long term red/white project after seeing so many Dear Janes in that combo. Meanwhile I keep adding to my reds for that purpose.
Yes to all your happy things. Sadly I have a sensitivity to wine so can't indulge but would love to. Tony has a glass every night with supper. But maybe a little sadly too, no sensitivity to potato chips. We enjoy a few every now and then but do try to go easy with them. :)

We've been unplugging and going for long walks. Hopefully, our bodies will thank us for being more active!
Stay well. And enjoy that wine :)
