Monkeys on the Move

This little yellow-ish monkey block (made in the multi-color month of April!) popped up the other day and insisted that I make him some yellow buddies.

So I did, and now he is much happier.  I had a bit of fun fussy cutting some 1.5 inch squares for the centers of these two blocks.  There are now 34 monkeys in my little tin!

And in other yellow monkey business, I was looking through my yellow scraps and found quite a bit of Kona Maize left over from... something.

I decided to start adding some sashing to the monkey blocks with 2 inch strips along with 2 inch randomly scrappy corner stones. They will look something like this -

I'm going to enjoy seeing what happens with these little guys next!

To see what other scrappy quilters have been doing with their yellow scraps this week, check out the Scrap Happy Saturday link-up at Soscrappy!

SO darling! I've been actually contemplating RSC project #4...cray cray I know...but doing something with those teensy bits and bats that are mounting up again big time since the Scrap Vortex (which is still in the large slab stage).

such fun your monkeys and the sashing works well with them too

The sashing works and will make sewing them together so much easier.

Those are nice additions to your little lone monkey! I love the sashing idea - very attractive.

I like that leftover from something fabric that you found for the sashing. Such fun little blocks. That ladybug fabric is adorable.

Love your little blocks! What fun. They are plusses, they are churn dashes. They are so cute.

What happy-looking blocks. I love Kona Maize, too. It makes a nice neutral.

I'm always amazed at what variation you get based on value placement within these blocks. SEW glad you listened and made some YELLOW friends for the spotty Monkey!!

Oh what fun!
I've already made a Little Monkey quilt but when I keep seeing all the Little Monkeys out there in blog land I'm tempted to make another smaller one.

I love the ladybug fabric and pairing it with more dots was a great idea. I love, love, love that Monkey. Happy to see he's not alone anymore. ;^)

I never thought about that they have plusses in the center, but you are so right! Thanks, Kathy!
