August and the Rainbow Scrap Challenge

When I wrote my last post, I was anticipating my mom's visit, and now she has come and gone!  It was a very nice time, and I know she enjoyed everything we did.  Here is how I was feeling the next day after we took her to the airport for her flight home -

My husband took off for the golf course, and you know where I went!  Just for fun, I stitched up a few monkey blocks -

One with a cardinal preparing to ride a bike, and one that's full of flowers!  Fun little blocks!  That brings me to 20 monkeys.

At this time in the month, it's always fun to take stock of where I am with my other Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks as well, so I had fun laying them out this afternoon to see how things were progressing.

16 Scrap Jar Stars!  Love!

And 48 16 - patch blocks.  A checkerboard of scrappy goodness!

I can tell already that the finished layout of this quilt will be a bit challenging to figure out.  This layout that I played with this afternoon looks pretty good to me.  I'm going to try not to overthink it!

Check out what lots of other quilters have been up to with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge over at So Scrappy on Saturday.  See you there!

Love the projects you are working on. The scrap jar blocks and the 16-patch blocks are my favourite - they are both great candidates for my next year's RSC quilt too. Thanks for sharing your progress!

Your quote is spot on! My husband retired in June, so I really look forward to the times when the house is quiet. Love your monkey blocks. The rainbow scrap quilts are going to be beauties, too.

Scrap Jar Stars are lookin' great! So are your other blocks, but you know I'm partial to SJSs!

Yup, the scrap jar stars are still my favorite, but you're making me think kinder thoughts about monkeys.

All your blocks look great, but you know how tickled I always am by the monkeys! (Hooray for the cardinal riding a bicycle!)

Each project better and bright then the last... AWESOME!! I would love to have any of these as my own.

The monkeys are a delight. I love the secondary squares in you SJS quilt. I'm making 16-patch blocks myself and wondering how I'm going to set them. I also am making my improv blocks the same size in case I want to combine them. The whole checkerboard feeling of the group is great.

So cute! I love the scrap jar stars, but there's something really appealing about those 16 patches. Looking great!

A cardinal riding a bike? I laughed. Too cute! Lovely blocks all over your place but my fav is the two-toned scrap jar blocks. I so love your rendition of this block. Gorgeous. ;^)

All so pretty and colorful - I particularly love the scrap jars. Did you go in your sewing room while your Mom was there? Does she have an interest in your craft?
