Fresh Spools

This week, Faith of Fresh Lemons Quilts, shared the fifth and final paper pieced spool pattern in her Fresh Spools Series.  So, of course, I had to stitch it up!

Here are all of the spools I have made in the last few weeks:

They have been a fun and enjoyable way to use some scraps and be creative with color choices!  Thanks, Faith, for sharing these sweet spool patterns!

But now, what to do with them?  All along, I have intended to make them into a gift for a quilty friend, but what and how?

Yesterday, I decided to use four of them to make a mini quilt and put them together with some sashing...

Then chose something to back it with...

This comes from a panel that I've had for quite awhile, called Best Friends, by Sandy Gervais for Moda.  Each section has these cute little ladies having fun together!  Can you see what this one says?  I love it!

That leaves me with these two to make something else out of - not sure yet what I will do with them.

Today I'm going to figure out how to quilt the spool mini.  Still mulling that part over.

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Linking up with Oh Scrap for some scrappy inspiration!

All those blocks are so cute! I still have plans to make some of my own. Maybe I can make some this evening. I always love the projects you share on Oh Scrap!

Those spools are adorable - especially the heart. The panel for the back is just the right touch!

LOVE that heart spool Diann! I also just love how you put the 4 together, and I ADORE (yup, gushing) that fabric you chose for the backing...I have some of it, maybe different squares, as I don't recall that particular one. I need to get it into a sewing room wallhanging...these spools are good inspiration.

What a fun collection of blocks. Even though each one is unique, the spools make them go together.
